 Announcement

The Honorary President, Hon. Chair and Committee of the London Taxidrivers' Fund for Underprivileged Children are honoured and extremely delighted to announce that Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cornwall has accepted an invitation to become Patron of our charity.

We take this opportunity to thank Her Royal Highness for this honour, her support will be invaluable.  We hope in the future that it will be possible for Her Royal Highness to meet some of the children and their parents or guardians at some of our events.

On behalf of the Trustees of the London Taxidrivers' Fund for Underprivileged Children we thank all within the London licensed taxi industry and many others for their continued support.

HRH The Duchess of Cornwall with some of the LTFUC committee at Clarence House

On Thursday 9th December 2010 the London Taxidrivers' Fund for Underprivileged Children, together with Helen and Douglas House Hospice in Oxford, were invited to take 16 very deserving children to help decorate the Christmas tree at Clarence House with HRH The Duchess of Cornwall and to join her for lunch.

The committee arrived at the Jack Taylor School, Swiss Cottage at 10am and promptly set about decorating the taxis with tinsel, balloons and miniature Christmas trees, with the committee all wearing Santa hats.  Our eight excited little passengers, and their carers, came out at 11am and we then set off in a colourful convoy to Clarence House, with many tourists taking photographs and waving to the children.

After a reception the Hon. President of the LTFUC, Bill Tyzack BEM, introduced each Committee member separately to Her Royal Highness after The Duchess had helped the children to decorate the tree and this was followed by a lunch of 'bangers and mash'.  The children were then introduced to the Duchess's Equerry, Captain Henry Finnegan of the Welsh Guards, who was dressed in his traditional scarlet tunic and bearskin and he very kindly let the children try on his tall fur cap and become little soldiers, if only for a moment.

Before leaving each child was given a Christmas goody bag and Her Royal Highness came outside to have her photograph taken with the Committee and the decorated taxis.

We all had a very exciting and memorable day and the Hon. President, Bill Tyzack BEM, Hon. Chair, Susan Angel and Committee thank HRH The Duchess of Cornwall most sincerely for the kind invitation.
